About Wingspan
Dr. Kitt Schaller founded Wingspan Veterinary Care in April 2025 after recognizing a growing need for dedicated backyard poultry veterinary care in Madison and the surrounding communities. Her journey with chickens began in first grade when, as the only farm kid in class, she eagerly brought home the classroom chicks—an early connection that grew into a lifelong passion and ultimately inspired her vision for Wingspan.
Dr. Kitt earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UW–Madison in 2014. She began her career working with dairy cattle before transitioning into end-of-life care for pets, where she found deep meaning in helping families say goodbye with compassion, dignity, and support.
After establishing Wingspan Veterinary Care, Dr. Kitt expanded her services to include in-home euthanasia. She now provides in-home euthanasia for dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, and birds, offering a peaceful, familiar setting where families can focus on being present with their beloved companions. This work has become a central and deeply meaningful part of her practice, alongside her dedication to backyard poultry medicine.
Passionate about blending traditional and modern medicine, Dr. Kitt incorporates alternative therapies such as acupuncture and Reiki alongside modern veterinary techniques. She is committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care for every patient and the people who love them.
At home in Verona, she and her husband raise their children on a small dairy farm, surrounded by a menagerie of furry and feathered friends.
